​What the lists are

This list of American-Lafrance motorized fire apparatus was originally compiled and published by John Peckham and is primarily based on information contained in ten factory lists and files, plus other outside sources and/or individuals. Unfortunately, all these sources do not agree on all points, each having been made at different times, by different people, for different departments, with different requirements. The combining of these, along with some careful editing, has made these new lists as accurate as the currently available sources will allow. Many gaps have been filled in, especially concerning Canadian records, with the help of other individuals. In spite of this effort, there may still be omissions of details, or other errors. Please feel free to send in additions and corrections, even on minor points.

Peckham’s original list contained several indexed and addendums.  These additional resources have been reproduced here as PDF files, and provide researchers with valuable information to best utilize this database.
